The best bachelor pads - Telegraph

A fridge, a cooker, a TV, a coffee machine, a PlayStation and an internet connection – when Jeremy Clarkson recently moved into his unfurnished flat in Bayswater, west London, following domestic complications that remain murky, his list of must-have items was comically short.

Dishwasher? He didn’t need a dishwasher, he assured readers of his weekly newspaper column. He could wash the pots himself. Washing machine? He’d never used a washing machine. He didn’t understand them. They made no sense. He would have to go to a launderette and pay “someone in a nylon overall” to wash his Y-fronts.

“When I moved into the flat, I spent the first evening sitting on the floor, wondering what is essential and what, really, is not,” Clarkson admitted.
