LONDON SE1 signified nothing more at one time than industrial warehouses, docks and one of the grubbier forgotten parts of London. But the revolution over the last few years is being topped off by that beacon of hope, The Shard.

Once it is completed in 2012 it will be the tallest building in the UK – indeed in the European Union – and one of the tallest in the world. It’s already cutting an impressive shape in the London skyline and attracting investment and people into this part of the capital.

Until recently, the only sexy part of SE1’s postcode was the South Bank but Bankside, Southwark and Bermondsey have now benefitted from huge investment and it’s a place many are happy to call home.

Home.co.uk puts the average price of a two-bedroom house in this part of London as £526, 729. You’ll certainly struggle to find anything under £200,000 and the average time on market is 145 days.
