Should every home have a home office? | Alex Johnson | Independent Property Blogs

Traditional househunter lists of ‘must haves’ include off-street parking, en suite bedrooms and mature gardens. But increasingly this list now also includes ‘home office’.
The Live/Work Business Briefing 2012, the second annual snapshot of homeworking trends from the Workhubs Network, indicates that homeworking is growing rapidly – the number of those running a business from home is up 80,000 over last year to 2.43 million people, which amounts to more than 1 in 12 of those in work. Indeed, these self-employed home-workers are the fastest growing part of the UK workforce. Over the last 10 years their number has risen by 28% and the total number of all homeworkers (both self-employed and employees working at/from home)
rose by 24%. Together, that’s 13.1% of the workforce or 3.83 million people.
